Rules of ATS
Whilst we want your experience to be as enjoyable as possible and also as hitch-free, there are some basic rules players must abide by to ensure everyone enjoys themselves.
1. Use correct grammar and punctuation in your posts. Make it clear what it is you are doing and don't be vague, especially in terms of combat RP.
2. No god-moding or power-gaming. This means that everything must be reasonably sized, armed and mobile. In addition, you can not enforce your actions on another player. If a solution through OOC/email/forum PMs can not be found, a game-master must decide the outcome. This does not mean that all nations are at an equal playing field, some will be weaker than others.
3. Be original with your races, names, ships, weapons and culture. Borrowing things from movies, games, books, TV shows and other forms of entertainment is allowed, and encouraged in the event that it is required, but copying an entire civilisation from them is not.
4. An entire extinction of a race must be GM approved.
5. This is a work of hard science fiction. The rules of physics still apply. You may bend some of them, but some basic limits, such as the Conservation of Mass/Energy theories, the Theory of Relativity and other fundamental physical barriers must not be crossed. Just don't go overboard.
6. In the event of a battle or quick conversations between single characters, Steam Chat may be used between the parties involved, but afterwards the chat log must be posted in the corresponding thread.
7. Fleet combat must be settled with the fleet combat system unless both parties are willing to engage in a collaborative writing effort.
8. The more starting planets you have, the less you will be able to colonise, and there will be a large economic and military strain for one week for each planet starting above 3. Max starting planets is 10.
9. You cannot enter a system and attack on the same turn.
10. It must be made evidently clear who you are attacking/interacting with in your posts to avoid confusion or your posts will be disregarded.
11. Avoid the conditional tense when possible.
