Sacred Jior SKF7FQe

Formal Name: Jior Yaxshin Kakaisaran or the Divine Celestial Empire of Jior
Informal Names: Jioran Empire
Abbreviation: DCE
Population: ~37,000,000,000

Technology Tags:
Fanaticism - A prominent focus in Jioran society is that of a righteous and glorious death popularised and inspired from the Dausarrai warrior code. This is amplified a thousandfold within it's armed forces, the people and especially the soldiers are entirely sold on the idea of the Emperor being a divine figure and Jior a holy land that must be defended by every living Jioran. With such loyalty comes the ability for the Jiorans to preservere where others may fail, surrender is a capital offense and the greatest dishonor one can bear. As a result, the Jiorans have superior morale and dedication to fight, whereas some nations may step back and reassess the Jiorans push forward to eternal victory even if it means their own death.

Long Range Doctrine/Attrition Focus - Owing to Jior's limited resources, it's scientific and strategic planners have become obsessed with the idea that quality could overcome quantity. The ruling strategic culture in Jior is based around the concept of 'Decisive Long Range Battle' which serves as it's guiding doctrine. When using forumlae to determine a fleets strength the Jiorans equate the power of a fleet to the size and number of it's guns rather than the size and number of it's ships. This lead to an emphasis on larger, long-range weaponry theoretically allowing the Jiorans to maintain battlefield superiority through extended periods of exclusively offensive-centric skirmishes.  As a result when it comes to offensive firepower the Jioran innovations dominate anything in use today, with superior range missiles and railguns capable of outmatching even the most advanced of fleets giving them a superb advantage in prolonged fleet engagement and maneuvering.

Stealth Innovation - Whilst the Dausarrai Code emphasized a certain code of conduct by warriors there was no clause preventing ambushes or suprise attacks. Guile has always played a major part in Jioran warfare and the nation has produced it's own generals legendary for their cunning. As a result, Jior did not shy away from stealth technology infact Jior has aggressively sought out stealth capabilities for it's ships when it ended it's period of isolation some 90 years ago.

Engineering - To satisfy the Jioran military demand for robust ships with powerful weaporny there grew a necessity to ensure the designs of it's ships, fortifications and other structures could meet the strict requirements of the Jioran High Command. To that effect Jior began an ambitious program of scientific advancement, today Jior is home to endless hordes of engineers whos careers are spent entirely on catering to military projects. Although Jior is one of the smaller powers of the galaxy, it remains one of the most industrious and productive easily outmatching it's rivals. It's sprawling factories and shipyards aren't the only source of Jior's industrial might as each and every household is expected to commit the necessary sacrifice of time and effort to aid the nation or their clan.

Logistics - A central focus of Jioran military doctrine is ensuring they have the potential to maintain a military campaign when they commit to one. Military leaders have painstakingly established a logistical system capable of keeping troops and ships resupplied and well-maintained. A notable contribution of this line of thinking is the sheer availability of repair ships, refueling vessels and freighters  within the Jioran Navy and ships damaged in combat are easily capable of getting back in the fight in record time.

“The sword has to be more than just a simple weapon; it has to be an answer to life's questions, problems and even answers.”
- Venkarati Zrivyhr prior to his famous Duel at Rastang

Species: Being a homogenous society, Jior is populated almost completely by the Jiorans themselves. The Jiorans are a reptomammalian species of humanoids ranging from heights six to eight feet tall. Outwardly they are similar to humans except covered in colored scales mainly green/yellow/blue although rarely there is a Jioran born with red scales which is believed to be a sign of good luck and general martial prowess, these scales are robust and serve as the equivalent of a sort of light armor. Even more of a rare occurence is a Jioran born with a third eye a state referred to as 'Xudo Bakrikal' or being 'blessed by the gods' a mutation believed to bring with it great intellect and close connection with Ruezhi deities.

The Jiorans are a hardy, adaptable and conformist race, traits stemming from the vast jungles and steppes of their homeworld which were rife with natural dangers and vicious wildlife. As a result Jiorans are able to withstand extreme heat better than most other races. A further distinguishing feature of Jioran anatomy is the fact that their olfactory senses are based in their ears alongside extra respiratory canals meaning they have very little use for their noses, although the increased breathing capacity allows them to perform great feats of endurance if physically able.

Culture: To the 30 billion people of Jior their Emperor is a god, they believe he personally owns Jior - it's lands, resources and even themselves and they further believe it the right and will of Jioran's Emperor to rule the whole Galaxy and all living beings within it. The human concept of 'total war' is highly satisfying to the Jioran mind as throughout its vast history Jior has been a totalitarian state in constant preparation for their very own total war and it's effects on all aspects of its society. Playing their closely supervised part in Jioran society is it's media networks who copycat tested methods from other societies, before a single article is considered its subject matter must be approved by the Army, Navy, Foreign Office and Feudal Councils as nothing may be circulated which could oppose the concept of a Jioran dominated Galaxy.

Jioran society is dominated by four major established social classes: the Dausarrai or Knightly class, the Agricultural class made up of the peasantry as well as the Artisans and Merchants. Social mobility is possible but extremely difficult especially for one of peasant birth and admittance into the Dausarrai in modern times is possible only under extraordinary circumstances. Naturally in an autocratic nation such as Jior political power is wielded nearly exclusively by the Dausarrai who are just under 10 percent of it's population but make up all of it's Feudal Warlords who actually rule the land.

The predominant faith of Jior is called 'Ruezhi' which teaches that Jior is a heavenly land protected by their gods. Ruezhi gods are said to exist in rocks, trees, rivers and even the souls of men who have died in service of the Emperor are worshiped as divine martyrs and minor gods. In the immemorial fashion of these ancestors they fortify with pageantry and savage symbolism the belief that these innumerable deities behind them enables them to become the rightful conquerors of the Galaxy. Even in early adolescent Jioran children are made to learn the proper reverence for national heroes for by implanting such devotion the Empire is ensured of a youth imbued with fanatical courage and militarist ideals.

“Life is not so important when forced to choose between life and one's integrity." - Alusannen Faranchi shortly before commiting ritual suicide whilst besieged by his ancestral enemies.

Power: Behind it's fighting forces stand all the wealth, power and resources of a people who's national dream is to see Jior established as the capital of the Galaxy. The Jiorans for over several decades have been carrying on one long uninterrupted economic war. Economists from across the Galaxy have predicted on numerous occasions that the Jioran economy must soon collapse but Jior remains stronger today than ever before in it's history. An adaptable people, the Jiorans have made good use of the inventions and conveniences of the Galaxy's great powers which might fit in with a plan for galactic conquest which remains their national obsession.

Non-essential industries in Jior have been all but wiped out for the Empire has recognized but one need: the need for the materials of war. To that effect efforts to hold down prices have failed and inflation has decreased the purchasing power of Jior's currency and Jior's reserves of helium-3 as well as other valuable resources are carefully hoarded as a result. Irregardless of current economic difficulties, Jioran bankers see their turn coming later when Jior begins exploiting the lands it has conquered. Most eagerly sought securities on the Jioran Stock Exchange are the shares of government-controlled corporations established to exploit foreign resources abroad wherever they are able as well as preparation for future wars which Jioran leaders predict may last a century.

With it's vast modernization and industrialization programs Jior has finally been able to count itself as one of the Regional Powers of the Galaxy, although one of it's smallest in terms of occupied territory an oversight it's leadership eagerly intends to change.

Homeworld Name: Jior
Homeworld Location: T5
Homeworld Description: Jior is a high gravity world covered in vast steppes, wide ranging desert and jungles with few oceans. Although the lack of vast oceans may imply a shortage of overall groundwater and fertile land the opposite comes as a miraculous suprise to most geologists.  Jior has been a land ripe for agriculture and to this day there are vast farmlands adhering to strict border controls between Feudal Lords requiring the bare minimum of irrigation for the sewing of the crop referred to as 'tak' an extremely robust plant not dissimilar to both rice and corn capable of thriving in the planet's bizarre ecosystem.

Political System: An Absolute Monarchy dominated by powerful Feudal Dausarrai Warlords. The official definition of the system is the 'Oroshimate' and whilst the Emperor is revered as a divine figure it's the Oroshim(the equivalent of a Generalissimo) who dominates the bureaucracy and military of the Empire therefore being the most powerful political rank one can achieve. The current Oroshim is Tsetserkan Ksauto, a powerful feudal lord who was appointed to the position by the Emperor after aggrandising his military power through a series of military campaigns against rival clans.

“If you keep your sword drawn and wield it openly then no one will dare approach you and you will have no allies. But if you never draw it, it will dull and rust and people will assume that you are feeble and ripe for conquest." - Zaynaib Andoren, notable Dausarrai philosopher and warlord

History: Being a race geared towards collectivism the Jiorans quickly adapted to the conditions of their homeworld by banding together into clans. Not much is known of early Jioran history or it's most ancient of clans other than the fact that the Imperial Dynasty is one of the only clans of Antediluvian status still in existence having reigned over the Jioran people for thousands upon thousands of years. The Jiorans believe the Imperial Family to have descended from the Sun God and creator of the world, Kagu-Zughai and they believe that the son of this mythical world creator, the 'Eternal One' or 'Bishamal' inhabits the body of each successive Emperor meaning they have been ruled by an immortal deity for centuries.

Whilst the Emperors have not always reigned over Jior much of their relevant history stems from the bureaucratic reign and domination of the weakened Imperial government by the Dausarrai.  At first, the Imperial Dynasty was a great clan that had seized absolute power over all others but as time went on and successive Emperor's ruled there remained a growing class of nobility, many of which lesser branches of the Imperial Dynasty itself, which gradually gathered power in the government. One clan in particular, the Ozbekhan, ruled as successive regents for numerous Emperors establishing the initial legitimacy and capacity for rulership utilizing the position of Oroshim.

Inititally political conflicts rarely devolved into open warfare, the early periods of Jioran history are marked by shadowy intrigues and palace coups with power changing hands through bureaucratic and/or political means rather than outright conflict. This changed with the growing prominence of the warrior class which would come to be known as the Dausarrai, as demand for soldiers, guards and watchmen grew so did the power and influence of the Dausarrai. The Dausarrai were initially kept under control as military conscription and ultimate command had been centralized under the Imperial Government but events had been put into place which saw military power back in the hands of local power holders.

In a years time a stable system and warrior class based around watchman and police roles had devolved into a feudal arms race, the rule of regents and soft power Oroshim's had come to an end. The 'Civil War' period burst into existence with the declaration of war against the dominant Ozbekhan regents by a confederation of rival clans lead by the prominent Zaynaib and Heuchan clans both of which could claim royal descent. Feudal lords throughout Jior became polarized and the initial phase of this period was marked by dramatic betrayals and brutal infighting. Although the Zaynaib and Heuchan clans were victorious in the end, it didn't take long for them and their vassals to turn on eachother, what would follow is several centuries of bloodshed and the ultimate ascendance of the Dausarrai class as the ultimate decisionmakers in political disputes untill the vast hordes of Tsetserkan Ksauto managed to form a fragile peace some 800 years later.

Colonies Under Your Species Control: Aside from a myriad of outposts in it's home system Jior has only one prominent outpost that can be considered a 'colony' which is an extensive asteroid complex in U4.

Military Overview

Sacred Jior HHDNmZk

The Jioran military is divided into two separate arms: the Imperial Navy of Jior and the Imperial Jioran Army. Both have underwent extreme revision and expansion since their inception resulting in both evolving far past their original intent and purpose. Due to the nature of the Jioran Government there remains little to no checks and balance or civilian oversight of the armed forces allowing the institutions to dominate foreign affairs and even domestic as well as social matters. Power struggles between the Army and Navy has rendered cooperation between the two entities nearly impossible outside of a grudging pact during wartime with each institution developing it's own means for combat. As a result, Jior essentially has two autonomous armed forces subordinate directly to the Emperor each with their own naval vessels, ground forces and aerospace fighter/bomber corps.

The competition and struggle for prominence between the Army and Navy is more than just your usual inter-service rivalry, both groups are indoctrinated into very different ideological outlooks. The Army is made up of extremists, proponents of Jioran purity and dominance throughout the Galaxy adhering to the traditional Jioran martial culture as well as theocratic worship of the Emperor and honorable death in battle. The Navy, on the other hand, is made up of reserved proponents of realpolitik whilst not lacking whatsoever in their Conservatism the Admirals look upon intergalactic events with intense scrutiny awaiting the perfect moment to strike with carefully crafted plans and superior tactics.

Sacred Jior HnAceHf

The Imperial Navy has based much of it's development off other more advanced nations, with prime inspiration for it's own development coming from the fleets of historic galactic powers such as the United Federation Navy as well as the United Systems Fleet. This experience and fraternization with the outside world is believed to be the prime reasoning for the more disciplined attitudes prominent within the INJ. Unlike the Army which has developed in isolation on it's own the Navy understands the strengths of it's potential enemies and therefore it's leadership believes that in depth planning and preparations are of crucial importance when it comes to dealing with foreign powers.

The Imperial Navy remains steadfast in the believe that the power of a fleet is equivalent to the number of weapons with firm belief that larger vessels will rule the day in future engagements. Large battleships and dreadnoughts with intensive carrier support remains the prominent focus of the Navy. Alongside it's impressive fleet is the Naval Ground Forces which essentially is a completely modernized and autonomous land army with tanks, APCS and other advanced mechanized vehicles. Prominent Naval military formations are the 'Special Naval Landing Forces' or SNLF which remains one of the most well trained and best equipped military organizations in the Galaxy.

A unique factor of the Navy is that it's entire apparatus follows a Naval ranking and uniform system, from it's aerospace pilots all the way through to it's grunts in the infantry.

Sacred Jior 2gUIxEy

The Imperial Army is a vastly numerous faction with it's leadership structure remaining strict adherents to the ancient Dausarrai code. The rank and file of the organization are conscripted from across Jior and equipped with modest yet effective arms and armor. Unlike the Navy which praises adept training and cunning tactics the Army focuses on massed formations of highly motivated and fanatical front line soldiers capable of overwhelming even the most entrenched of enemy positions given time and effort. Elite Army Regiments possess superior training and armament but remain few and far between, their focus being on breakthroughs, encirclement's and special operations rather than in tending to the meatgrinder with the rest of the grunts.

The Jioran Army Flotilla is the Space Force of the IJA and is made predominantly of lighter ships such as corvettes, destroyers and cruisers mainly utilized to provide support for ground operations or guarding military transports. As a result, both the Navy and Army follow through with completely separate tasks during wartime seldomly engaging in cooperation, the Navy attempts to trap enemy fleets to force them into decisive battles of attrition whilst the Army focuses on raids and seizing territory.

Owing to the stringent demands of their individual pride, all Army units also adhere to their own strict ranking and uniform systems with even their naval personnel using Army ranking, protocol and uniforms.

Fleet Composition

The INJ Combined Fleet:
2 x Dreadnought
1 x Super Carrier
4 x Carrier
6 x Battleship
5 x Cruiser
4 x Destroyer

The IJA Space Flotilla:
2 x Carrier
1 x Battleship
6 x Cruiser
4 x Destroyer
5 x Frigate

Fleet Points = Discarded as discussed with Rook, this faction is meant to play a dynamic antagonist and hopefully will be militarily defeated overtime.

If you're going to change status to a great power, would it not be wiser for continuities sake just to play the New Terrans? It makes no sense this power would rise so quickly without any history or backstory.

If it was a race creeping in from the unknown fringes that would also make sense, could I suggest if you want to stay the course you move your starting position? ATS's Galaxy is one that is relatively well explored, and you have a well known faction sheet to match this style of play.

Tbh, I adjusted it solely for the fleet points as I doubt that even with the tech tags that I'd be allowed a higher amount of points as a regional power. I'm playing it now as the nation having accrued just enough power and influence to catapult itself militarily as a great power but with major internal issues, quite similar to the actual irl inspiration for the nation.

Fleet points don't matter without the system, furthermore you shouldn't be upgrading for the pro-game aspects, we have too many great powers as it is.

IRL that nation wasn't a great-power though.
